Someone Else's Term Project Presentation

I found all of the term projects interesting, but I was most interested in was Dave's project: "Is Piracy Really Killing the Music Industry? Impact of new media on the music industry." I used to download religiously and now I do once in a while, and I still don't think it's that big of a deal. Dave referred to us, downloaders as criminals which I found shocking. I understand why downloading is such a big issue in society because it is taking money from the artists and record labels, but I refuse to buy an entire CD because I like one or two songs at most on it. Artists are still going platinum so I don't see what the big deal is, if people like their music enough, they'll buy the albums. Dave also said how some artists would be forgotten, which I didn't agree with because their true fans will listen to their music regardless of what new music is out. I do agree with Dave's conclusion which said that there will be no end to illegal downloading because new technologies or p2p services will be invented to enable it. That brings me to another point: if it's so wrong, why are there so many services enabling it?!

My Term Research Project

For my term project I'm working with Vinita Singh. The name of our project is "Online Merchants and Consumers in the Age of New Media," which is just a fancy way of saying our project is about internet businesses and consumers. We're going to give an overview of what the definition of e-commerce is then Vinita is going to talk about the positives of e-commerce and I'll be talking about the negatives. Then we have a very short video from youtube, if there's enough time about the future of e-commerce.
