BLOGS vs. WIKIS

Blogs and wikis are similar but also have very important differences. Both blogs and wikis allow people to post basically whatever they can be viewed by virtally everyone. The difference between blogs and wikis is that the posts on blogs are done by one person usually and people aren't allowed to just go in and change them. Blogs are also more personal and resemble more of a social network than wikis. An example of this is the Brooklyn blog that helped the police arrest drug dealers because the people of the neighborhood came together not only on the blog but in the real world to help bust them. There are also many celebrity blogs in which people can access the latest in celebrity gossip. Wikis are more informative than blogs because they are supposed to contain less biases. The most popular example I can come up with is Wikipedia, where information on almost anything and everything you can think of is accessible. Another example of the reason wikis are informative is that face that companies are starting to use wikis as a place where new employees can find information about the company and how-tos. I feel as though there is more communication between blog members than people who use wikis because blogs are a lot more opinionated than wikis.
